Struggles

This series focuses on a range of scenarios across the globe, from the neverending painful reality in Palestine to homelessness in Sao Paul and pretty much anything in between.

Mother’s Loss

Although this work was inspired by a picture taken in 2018 by AFP, it feels very real and relevant at this present moment. It doesn't have to be this way. This piece aims to portrait a mother’s most acute shape of pain and suffering, the loss of a child.

"The mother of Leila Al Ghandour, a Palestinian baby of 8 months who, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry died of tear gas inhalation during clashes in East Gaza the previous day, holds her at the morgue of Al Shifa hospital in Gaza City "

Cracolandia

Inspired by the work of Paulo Whitaker, this piece portraits another common scene in a forgotten area of Sao Paulo called Cracolandia. addiction, homelessness and despair are how this area is defined for many years. However, no social programmes or initiatives have ever worked and residents and those who feel trapped in this scenario are too often marginalised and forgotten.

Another large work from my series "Struggles" this piece was inspired by a fantastic work by Raneen Sawafta. Sadly, the everyday life of Palestinians has been a major source of inspiration for this series.

"The mother of Palestinian Rasheed Abu Arra, who was killed, mourns her son alongside other women, in the town of Aqaba near Tubas, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank” (Raneen Sawafta)

This work was inspired by the work of Sergey Ponomarev from The New York Times. Hungarian police using disproportional force against migrants crossing in Horgos. Hungarian police and government are known for its intimidating approach.

Street Workers NY.

This work was inspired by one of many wonderful works by Burt Glinn in New York on the ‘70s. The stigma and safety of sex workers are issue which has hardly changed over decades. Although some societies have been constructively working towards social inclusion and acceptance, most have not changed and some have become even more hostile.
